Attendance
More Than a Checkbox: Keeping Our Groups Healthy
In Shepherd Life Groups, attendance is about so much more than checking a box. It’s one of the simplest yet most powerful ways we can care for people and measure the health of our ministry.
Every week, you’ll receive a quick email from the Life Groups team with a big orange button that says “Take Attendance.” One click logs you directly into your Leader’s Toolbox, where you can mark who was present. That’s it—simple, fast, and secure. The information is saved automatically in your toolbox and on our end so nothing gets lost.
But here’s why it matters:
1. Growth Measurement
When you take attendance, you’re helping us see how your group is growing. It gives us insight into participation trends so we can better support you as a leader.
2. Connection
Marking attendance also ensures that every person in your group feels noticed and valued. If someone starts missing often, attendance records allow you—and us—to recognize it and reach out with care, prayer, and encouragement.
3. Accountability
Finally, attendance helps both leaders and ministry staff stay accountable. It reminds members of their commitment to the group and allows our Life Groups staff to better understand who we’re shepherding and how we can serve them well.
So the next time that email lands in your inbox, remember—it’s more than a checkbox. Attendance is one of the best ways we can strengthen our groups, deepen community, and make sure everyone is cared for.
