Group Multiplication
You may be wondering: What if my group is getting too big, or what if someone in my group is ready to lead their own?First, know this—it’s a good problem to have! God is at work, and multiplication is a sign of health. Starting a new group doesn’t mean your group is breaking apart—it means you’re extending God’s Kingdom and making space for more people to grow in Christ.
Here are some steps to guide and encourage you in the process:
Remember, it’s okay to multiply! Don’t be afraid of starting a new group from within your own. This is how healthy growth happens.
Pray intentionally. Ask God to prepare both you and the potential leader for this exciting step, giving encouragement and confidence for what’s ahead.
Affirm and celebrate the new leader. Ask if you can announce their readiness to lead, and during your group time, pray over them publicly. This not only blesses them but shows your group the importance of raising new leaders.
Offer hands-on experience. Have the new leader co-lead a few sessions with you. This gives them confidence and lets them learn in a safe environment.
Send them with support. Encourage some members of your group to join the new group. This helps create a familiar dynamic and sets the new leader up for success.
Equip them well. Attend Leader Essentials training with them to ensure they have the tools and encouragement they need.
Celebrate God’s faithfulness. Once a year, host a joint gathering between your group and the new one. It’s a powerful way to see and celebrate what God has done through multiplication.
Multiplication is never about loss—it’s about kingdom gain. When you release leaders and send out new groups, you’re creating more space for people to encounter Jesus, build community, and grow in faith. Have someone ready to lead?
